Ever tried to take a sunrise through gauzed windows and got the gauze instead of the background? Well the same thing didn't happen here Though I wonder with all innocence what made you want to photograph ship ratlines...
Because ratlines, to me, are the most important part of the ship. They're what take you aloft -- what take you to freedom. Without the ratlines, you couldn't furl or loose sails -- you wouldn't even have a ship.
But still, main emphasis for the picture was for the near-far comparison.
