You may or may not recognize that photo.... it was the one I took when I reached the peak of Cyprus Island with the rest of the Lady crew. Now, just a little background info, Captain JB kicked us off the ship and -- since it was for our own good -- told us that we could come back when we reached the top of the mountain. And, since it was nearing sunset, we ran up the mountainside for a good hour or so before reaching the top. But, we made it in time to watch the sunset, and I tell ya, it was one of the most beautiful things you'll ever see. Especially being up there with my newly made family.....
So anyway. It was difficult for me, 'cause I'd blown out my knee almost right away on the climb/run. So, I limped all the way up. For most of the way up, I couldn't feel anything but bloody pain in my leg. But, I refused to fall behind. My dear sister Kyrstin carried most of my stuff the way up, bless 'er, and when I made it to the top, I shoved my knife in the mountaintop and took a picture of the sunset behind it. A "sword in the stone" kind of thing. Impossible task completed.
Now, I changed the photo to be red & black hued (aye, to symbolize blood. why else would it be red?), and added one of my favorite quotes to it.
So no matter how painful the test, no matter how tough the journey, keep pressing on. After all, the harder the struggle, the more glorious the victory.
edit-- this could go under multiple themes for the 100 Challenge... like seeing red or pain, for instance... but I'm going with fortitude. it seems to most closely fit. ^^
Aye, that's so true! I never quit. Last year when I hurt my foot at bball practice, I wasn't allowed to play for a week () and I couldn't stand just sitting there! So I practiced my foul shots, with someone rebounding for me.
And you're right, strength doesn't matter on size. It's inside, in your heart.
Aye, I had her working harder than I was! Luckily for her, though, most of my shots were fairly good and she didn't have to chase a ball all over the gym!
we're full of inspirational quotes, aren't we? well then, size matters not! do or do not, there is no try. ^^
lol! oh, I'm sure you're a great shooter. but I just remember what it's like to shag balls for a crappy shooter. you get your exercise in, that's for sure.

Aye, we are. And the last paragraph of your explanation is making me think of a hymn. "Higher Ground" be the name, I think. I think it really fits, since you were climbing a mountain!
Some people have been asking me about this stuff so I decided to gather all information in one single article on how to make your own portfolio, in a profesional and clean looking way. I hope it's useful, because these steps I myself take.
DeviantArt is full of extremely well produced artistic fashion and fine art photographs. Make up. Styling. Creation of scenery. Story. Light. Glamour. A combination of these expressions sometimes make up a great photograph. But the protagonists of these pictures are usually female.
So... now it's the time for male models to come into focus.
How to make DA work for YOU! Taking an in-depth look at how to make deviantART work for you, and getting the most out of your user experience. How to get comments, watches, your work scene, commented on, critiqued, and what you have to do. These are some of the things which I have learned since joining more than 4 1/2 years ago.
`karemelancholia is one of the most genuine deviants you could ever met. Always active and a true deviantART cheerleader and supporter in every aspect. You can always count on her to lend a hand or get involved, and you usually will find her doing large amounts of both at any given moment. She's consistently reports on contests around dA, showcases the efforts of her fellow artists and shows her charitable side through various activities. Besides all of this, she's a truly talented artist which is why she's an obvious choice for deviousness this month. Read More

aye, strength comes from perserverance, not the size of your biceps.
(and I'd so rather be you, even with a hurt foot, then the girl who had to rebound!
